How To Find Your True Self

Rediscovering Your True Self
Trying to "feel like yourself again" can be a deeply frustrating and confusing process, especially if you're not entirely sure who your true self is in the first place.
If you’re feeling lost, disconnected, or like something inside you is out of alignment, you’re not alone, and you’re definitely not here by accident. You’ve been guided to this message for a reason.
You’re on a journey. A search for truth. A search for you, and yes, the truth really will set you free.
When Feeling Like “Yourself” Becomes a Full-Time Job
It’s not uncommon to feel lonely, unwell, or emotionally distant from who you once were. Maybe you're doing everything in your power to feel "normal" again, to reconnect with your identity, your energy, your purpose. But trying to go back to who you used to be can quickly become a full-time job. One that drains you and distracts you from living your best life.
The truth is, self-discovery without the right tools, support, and mindset can feel very overwhelming. It can pull you back into outdated versions of yourself. Versions that no longer serve you, and while it’s tempting to return to the comfort of the familiar, that old self may not have been your truest or most healed self to begin with. Sometimes, the discomfort you're feeling isn't because you've lost yourself... It's because you're outgrowing who you used to be.
Stop Looking Back and Start Moving Forward
Before you try to reclaim an old version of yourself, ask this: Is that someone I truly admire, respect, and love?
Growth isn’t about reverting to your past. It’s about rising into who you’re meant to be. The version of you from two, five, or ten years ago was just a chapter and not the whole story. That person was learning, evolving, and doing the best they could with the knowledge and tools they had at the time. But now? Now you’re being called into something greater.
Begin With the Most Important Question: Who Am I?
To find your true self, you must first be willing to sit with yourself. That means turning inward, away from the noise, away from the roles you’ve been told to play, and away from the expectations that no longer align with your soul.
Grab your journal, quiet the distractions, and ask yourself the following:
1. Who Am I Really? You're not just your age, appearance, job, or relationship status. You're more than a daughter, wife, sister, or mother. Discovering your true self means unlearning much of what you were taught and rewriting the narratives handed to you by others.
2. What does my highest version of myself look like, act like, or feel like? Visualize her and then start showing up as her today.
3. How does she treat her body? How does she eat? What does she love to do for fitness? How often does she go to the spa? What does her wellness routine look like?
4. What habits must I stop and what do I need to start doing differently?
5. What do I really want for my life?
6. What am I truly called to do in this season of my life and what do I really want to do for my career and/or business?
7. What would a perfect day look like and feel like to me?
8. What am I still doing that is making me feel unhappy or disconnected from myself?
9. Is there anything I need to do to make my life exactly how I want it to be?
10. What am I avoiding that I know I need to face in order to grow into my best self?
Take your time with these questions. Breathe, reflect and be completely honest with yourself. The answers might surprise you or the answers may not come immediately but trust that they will come.
Your Real Self Lives in the Stillness
True self-discovery doesn’t happen in the spotlight. It happens in the quiet. In the uncertainty. In the dark, when you’re fumbling through a world that keeps asking you to be something you’re not. Your real self is not your body, not a number on a scale, not a title, a job, or a label.
Your real self is full of love, grace, health, abundance, kindness, compassion, empathy, talents, harmony, respect, and joy. Your real self is a Divine expression of God. So aim for that. Shoot for that. Make that your one and only goal.
You Are the Only One Who Can Stop You
Once you know who you truly are and once you fully own your worth, your power, your calling there will be nothing and no one that can stand in your way. Except, perhaps, the old voice in your head. The one that whispers you're not good enough, smart enough, or worthy enough. With practice, patience, and self-discipline, even that voice will fade and in its place will rise a version of you that you deeply love, fully respect, and are proud to be.
The journey to your real self won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it. You’re not lost, you’re simply being rerouted toward your purpose. Keep going. Your best self is waiting for you on the other side.
